ORLive Program Discusses Ideal Procedure for High-Risk Cardiac Patients

FARMINGTON, CT–(Marketwire – Feb 14, 2012) – In the past, total arch replacement was considered to be one of the most risky cardiac procedures because the patient had to be put on a heart-lung machine and blood flow to the head and body were temporarily stopped (circulatory arrest) after the patient had been cooled to a very low temperature. Today, the Hybrid Arch Debranching approach has dramatically lowered the morbidity and risk of total arch replacement for aortic aneurysms. The University of Maryland Medical Center presents a webcast featuring a Hybrid Arch Debranching operation. The surgery is performed by Teng C. Lee, M.D., assistant professor of surgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Aortic arch aneurysms are traditionally treated with open surgery, which involves putting the patient on a heart-lung machine temporarily stopping blood flow to the head and body. The hybrid arch debranching repair is less invasive than the traditional surgery and has a lower risk.

Performance Appraisals are Essential, Even for project manager jobs

With project manager jobs comes a lot of responsibility and sometimes even some stress. With that said, the job also comes with some perks such as nice wages and benefits. You aren’t usually micro managed as a project manager either, making it easy to incorporate your own ideas and ethics into your work.

However even project managers need performance appraisals in order to stay on track and to even get raises when they are deserved. Many people get some anxiety when it comes time to have their appraisals and in fact would love to skip it altogether. But if you know how to properly approach the situation, you can make the meeting work for you instead of against you.

Be Proactive

If you want to get good reviews from your employer then you want to be sure that you are doing your job to the best of your abilities without a lot of supervision. This means being able to perform your tasks on time and on your own, without having to rely on someone else when you don’t have to. Make sure you understand what is expected of you when performing your project manager jobs upfront so there are no surprises down the road. Being self reliant and capable is a gift any employer would love.

Take Care of Yourself

In order to make a good impression and to be a model employee, you have to take care of yourself at work and at home. This means getting enough sleep, exercising regularly, and eating the right foods so that you’ve got the energy and enthusiasm it takes to get the job done right. Practicing stress relief throughout the work day is also a good way to stay calm and keep a level head. This will greatly improve your performance and will in turn reflect on your performance appraisal.

Be Prepared to Talk About the Money

When it comes time to sit down and talk to your employer about your performance don’t be afraid to bring up sensitive issues like your salary, job enrichment programs you might be eligible for, and even promotions you are interested in. If you don’t communicate your thoughts and interests to your employer, they won’t have any idea where you’d like to take your career and this might leave you out in the dust when it comes to getting that promotion you had your eye on.

You Don’t Always Have to Agree

project manager jobs are not always cut and dry. Depending on the company, there are various job duties you might be expected to do. This doesn’t mean you have to agree with them all and in fact, a job performance appraisal is the perfect time to bring up some of the things you might have ideas for changing or making better. You might actually be surprised as to how much you can mold your own job to be the way you want it to be.

Getting a Successful ERP Career

Acquiring a successful ERP career such as a SAP functional job can be difficult, because of how competitive the job market is due to the current state of the economy. This is especially true if one does not know how to stand out amongst other applicants.  There are seven tips that are guaranteed to assist one in snagging an SAP functional job:

1.      Proper certification.  Having proper certification is important for acquiring an SAP functional job, because it improves one’s credentials as an ERP professional.  Moreover, if one is lacking in experience, the certification serves as a substitute.  When attaining certification, check if it is reputable and select one that specializes in a certain area to show that one is committed to learning and to stand out.

2.      Use knowledge of another language.  If one has knowledge of a foreign language, their opportunities are expanded.  Being bilingual or trilingual allows one to have the opportunity to work abroad.  It is advantageous to be capable of speaking another language, but is not required.

3.      Improve writing skills.  If one’s business writing skills are lacking, it is suggested to read a book on how to improve one’s them.  Business writing skills are important to have for ERP careers as a person is judged in part by his/her writing ability.  By improving writing skills, one’s resume will become even better; and therefore, will have a better chance at achieving one an interview.

4.      Social networking.  Using social networking to one’s advantage is crucial, because of the competitive ERP market.  In addition, the proper use of social networking gives one the reputation of an educated professional, who is easily found, tracked, and interacted with online.

5.      Create a niche.  Discovering one’s place in the ERP market is important, because it finally allows one to use their unique potential efficiently and properly.

6.      Write.  There are many major news outlets that cover ERP issues and are seeking an expert to answer questions and furnish analysis.  Another option is to publish a book, which will require time and effort, but will be worth it in the end.  Implementing great business writing skills will come in handy for providing the quality content necessary to earn a reputation.

7.      Appear prepared for the interview.  It has been said that the application attains the interview, but the interview wins the position.  The interview is the most important part of the process of attaining the job.  In order to ace the interview, one must stand out from the other applicants.  First, research the organization one is applying for thoroughly: its business model, its mission, and state how one can add value to the firm.  Do not discuss salary, unless the interviewer specifically asks about money.  In addition, elaborate on past successes, such as implementation delivery times and problems solved, instead of reciting one’s resume, because the interviewer has already looked over the resume.  During the interview, focus on remaining relaxed, and do not talk too fast, as is common when people are nervous.  Towards the end of the interview ask strategic questions to show that one has researched the company.  When the interview is over, thank the interviewer for their time and express one’s interest in the opportunity.  Also, send a thank-you note within 48 hours.

Getting a successful ERP career requires hard work and dedication, but it pays off by securing a place in the competitive ERP market.  Attainment of proper certification, using knowledge of another language, creating a niche, writing high quality information, and properly preparing for an interview, will lead the way to a successful career if one wants an SAP functional job.

Making an Appropriate Logo

Logos are important for any business. Logos are what customers first see on a business card, website or building. Logos are what most customers will remember about a business too. It is important that your logo is memorable, simple and eye-catching.

Logos are often designed by those with graphic web design jobs. You should find someone who has had experience designing logos and understands what a business needs to succeed. The colors and design of a logo should reflect what a business is about or the types of services it offers. For example, a beauty salon may feature scissors, hairpieces, or even a photo of a lady getting her hair styled. A gardening business may have flowers or gardening tools. This way, customers can associate that specific logo with your business.

Whoever you hire to design your logo, (even if he may not have had employment with graphic web design jobs), should research your business and services. It is essential that your logo matches your businesses needs. It should be large enough that it is catchy if placed outside your building, but simple enough that it can be printed on a business card. Business logos are also often on websites and even have additional effect that can make the website fun. Not only are logos found on business cards, but they may even be placed on pens, pencils, letterhead and business envelopes. It must be versatile enough to work for the company.

A business logo should follow five key points to make it successful for the business. Those employed with graphic web design jobs should have knowledge of these key points as well. They are listed as:

1.      Describable (so that a perspective client knows what the logo is)

2.      Memorable (the customer will associate the logo with your business)

3.      Effective with color (must be catchy for perspective customers)

4.      Re-sizable (able to be reduced or enlarged as the company needs it)

5.      Relevant (matches the company’s business and services)

There are a few common mistakes that those with graphic web design jobs will make when creating a logo. One mistake a business may make is hiring an amateur to design their logo. It is very important that a business find someone with experience and known references to design a logo. Another common mistake is using stock art to design a logo. A logo should have original and unique images. A business won’t want their logo to look similar to any other logos. One other mistake a logo may have is using complex designs. Again, this is where simple comes into play. A logo shouldn’t be too complicated to design or to replicate. It should be eye-catching and simple.

A logo is just like a catchy jingle. Come businesses have catchy songs that they use on commercials to associate with their company. A logo works just as any jingle would. If a logo isn’t catchy enough, a customer may not remember the business as well. If a logo isn’t designed appropriately, it also won’t look right on promotional material either. There are also times when a logo could make or break a company; it is that important to have an appropriate logo. A logo is an essential tool to marketing and advertising a business’ services and products.
